What stargazing experiences do you offer?

Love Lord Howe and Blue Mountains Stargazing offer two different stargazing experiences in February 2024:

Sunset Dinner Grazing and Stargazing – An adults only sunset dinner and stargazing experience limited to 20 guests.

Family Stargazing – A stand alone stargazing evening for anyone aged 4+. This experience is limited to 20 guests with the use of one telescope, and 30 guests with the use of two telescopes.

Where is the outdoor location of our Stargazing experience?

Family Stargazing will be held at Flagstaff/Signal Point in the main town area. If this location becomes unsuitable for any reason we will advise all guests via email at 3pm of an alternative stargazing location.

The Sunset Dinner Grazing and Stargazing location will be decided by Love Lord Howe and Blue Mountains Stargazing daily based on the wind direction and strength. Our preference is for Lovers Bay or Neds Beach. All booked guests, as well as all lodges will be emailed the selected location by 3pm on the day of the event.

What is the timeline of events during the evening?

Family Stargazing:

7:45pm:  Guests make their own way to Flagstaff/Signal Point in preparation for the show.

8pm: The 90 minute stargazing show begins.

9:30pm: Stargazing show ends, guests make their own way home.

Sunset Dinner Grazing and Stargazing:

6pm: Guests are welcome to arrive to enjoy a drink from the bar (cash only – No BYO).

6:30pm: Grazing platters served, we ask all guests to arrive by this time.

7:30pm: The 90 minute stargazing show begins.

9pm: The stargazing show ends, transport home provided.

How do we get to and from the event location?

Family Stargazing: There is no transport available to or from Flagstaff/Signal Point. Guests are advised to either walk or ride to the event, ensuring they have a head torch for their return journey home.

Sunset Dinner Grazing and Stargazing: Lodges are welcome to drop their guests at the event location from 6pm each evening, although the event officially starts at 6:30pm. Love Lord Howe will provide transport home for guests at the end of each evening. If you wish to drive or ride a bike to the location, we ask guests park at least 100m away from the event area to enable Love Lord Howe to enter and exit the area safely and easily to move equipment and catering.

What should I wear or bring?

A torch.

A jumper or blanket just incase you need it.

Your curiosity and amazement as well as questions you can think of!

Are there toilets available at all potential outdoor locations?

If toilets are unavailable at the selected outdoor location, Love Lord Howe will ensure there is transport available to take guests to the closest public toilets and back again on demand. Please notify a Love Lord Howe staff member if your require this assistance.

What happens in case of bad weather?

Stargazing under the rain or heavy cloud is no fun! If it appears unsuitable weather will disrupt the evening, we advise all guests alternative stargazing options via email at 3pm.

These include:

Heavy cloud (more than 70% cloud cover):

Moving your Family Stargazing experience to another night during your stay. If another suitable date cannot be found, we will refund your experience.

Moving the stargazing portion of your Sunset Dinner Grazing and Stargazing experience to another night during your stay, or refunding the stargazing portion (half of the ticket price) if another suitable date cannot be found.

The Sunset Dinner Grazing part of the experience will still go ahead in heavy cloud due to the pre arranged catering which may spoil if not used.

Rain:

Moving your Family Stargazing or Sunset Dinner Grazing and Stargazing experience to another date during your stay. If another suitable date cannot be found, we will refund your experience.

Is Stargazing suitable for kids?

Children are more than welcome at our Family Stargazing evenings. Parents may also bring children under four years of age (free) however, please be mindful of other participants’ tranquility during the show.

Our Sunset Dinner Grazing and Stargazing evenings are ‘Adults Only’.

Do you cater for people with mobility issues?

Flagstaff/Signal Point is on a slight slope, but is easily accessible for those attending a Family Stargazing evening.

For our Sunset Dinner Grazing and Stargazing evenings, Love Lord Howe understands that walking over uneven ground or sitting on the ground at a low picnic table might be difficult for some people. We have a limited amount of regular picnic tables and chairs available for use. Please let us know if you require a regular picnic table or other assistance prior to booking.

What if I have dietary requirements?

Love Lord Howe can cater for dietary requirements, provided adequate notice is given. We ask that guests with dietary requirements book as early as possible to enable speciality ingredients to be ordered.

What is your cancellation policy?

Outside 14 days from the event:

If you wish to cancel, we will issue a full refund minus a $10 service fee per ticket.

Within 14 days of the event:

We will offer a refund only if we are able to re-sell your ticket prior to the event taking place. If we are able to re-sell your ticket and offer a refund, a $10 service fee per ticket refunded applies.

Our strict cancellation policy applies as our catering supplies are ordered in from the mainland via our fortnightly freight ship and may spoil if not used. We also may have turned away other bookings in order to confirm your ticket.

Are we alone in the universe?

We love these questions! Silly questions, strange questions, existential questions, million-dollar questions, they are all welcome! This event is interactive so don’t be shy!
